Hotel Accomodations
Crew Accommodations Alert
As you know, the Company
recently changed hotels in MCO. This hotel is a great
improvement over our previous RON hotel. We have had many crews
who have stayed there and really enjoyed the rooms, the
amenities and the location.
Early on, there was a
problem with the use of the hotel’s health club. The problem was
with the hotel charging for its use because the health club is
attached to the hotel’s Spa facility. This problem was
alleviated through renegotiated language with the hotel and
crews will no longer be charged for the health club use.
An unfortunate issue was
brought to the attention of the AFA Hotel Committee. Crews
engaged in bad behavior (both East and West, pilot and flight
attendant crews) created enough problems for the property that
US Airways may lose this contract. Crew Accommodations is
working with the property and we hope to be able to work out the
issues and keep our crews at this location.
Everyone has had
bad days when nothing goes right and you’re exhausted by the end
of the day. However, just as it is not appropriate for
passengers to take out their frustration on us, it is also not
appropriate to take out your frustrations on hotel staff. As a
reminder, please remember to be professionals when dealing with
hotel issues. If there is a problem with the hotel that cannot
be resolved, complete a Hotel Electronic Form report on the AFA
Council 66 website
www.afa66.org
or forward a written report to the AFA Hotel Committee as soon
as possible.
David McCullar, AFA Hotel
Committee Chair
As a note, our properties in
Hawaii are not
under contract, and are in fact month to month. As all of these
properties are stellar (5 star in some cases), we want to thank
our work group and management for dealing with any glitches at
these properties with kid gloves and professionalism. We all
want these properties to stay in our system and ask that Flight
Attendants address any issues with continued professionalism.
