Section 8 - DeadheadA. Flight Attendants required by the Company to deadhead shall receive full pay and credit based on scheduled block time or actual flight time, whichever is greater, or in the event of surface deadheading, actual travel time (see Section 3, Compensation, Paragraphs B.2.a. and b.). B. When alternate transportation is not available, Flight Attendants may be required to surface deadhead with passengers. Flight Attendants will not be required to drive a vehicle when surface deadheading. C. Except for surface deadhead, Flight Attendants will be required to deadhead only on F.A.R. Part 121 certificated scheduled air carriers. D. 1. All deadheading Flight Attendants will be provided positive space passes in coach. Deadheading Flight Attendants shall be accommodated in First Class on a Space Available basis in Company date of hire order among all crewmembers deadheading on that flight. 2. Unscheduled deadheads will be on the first available Company flight. Time spent waiting for a deadhead flight will be minimized to the extent possible. E. In order to ride in First Class, Flight Attendants must be in uniform or business attire.If the Flight Attendant rides in the main cabin she/he may wear normal non-rev attire. F. Crew Resources shall block seats for deadheading crewmembers. Prior to pre-boarding the aircraft, deadheading Flight Attendants shall leave their passes with the gate agent. G. If a Flight Attendant jumpseat is available, a deadheading Flight Attendant may voluntarily give up her/his seat for a passenger. H. 1. Except for Reserves, Flight Attendants will be automatically released when they return from a tailend deadhead. However, Flight Attendants may call in and request to be released prior to the tailend deadhead. 2. With the Company’s permission a Flight Attendant scheduled to deadhead on the last leg of her/his pairing may elect to take a flight other than the originally scheduled flight. Such Flight Attendant shall receive Space Available boarding priority on the substituted flight. A Flight Attendant who elects to return to the domicile at a different time or to a city other than the domicile will be credited as if she/he returned to the domicile on the originally scheduled deadhead. I. Flight Attendants whose trips originate at a city other than the domicile shall not be required to come to the domicile to deadhead. It shall be the responsibility of the Flight Attendant to report to her/his scheduled flight on time. A Flight Attendant electing this option shall: 1. Notify Crew Resources in advance of her/his intention; 2. Check in with Crew Resources by telephone no later than two (2) hours prior to the scheduled deadhead; 3. Be paid for the original scheduled deadhead portion of the pairing; and 4. Contact Crew Resources as soon as possible when encountering any unanticipated delays which would affect her/his check-in time. J. A Flight Attendant who becomes sick or incapacitated on a trip, at other than her/his home domicile, will be provided positive space transportation on the first available Company flight to her/his home after she/he feels capable of such travel. At the request of the Company, a Flight Attendant may be required to obtain a medical release, at the Company’s expense, prior to returning to their domicile. If the Flight Attendant is unable to fly, appropriate alternate ground transportation will be provided by the Company.
