Section 34 - International

A. DEFINITIONS

"International" means a Company scheduled or charter flight which has a landing/takeoff outside the boundaries of the forty-eight (48) contiguous United States, Alaska, Canada and Mexico.

B. DOCUMENTATION

     

  1. The Company shall reimburse a Flight Attendant for the cost of passport renewals and visas only if required for duty at a particular domicile. Reimbursement will be made only after an expense form has been submitted with a proper receipt and/or documentation.

       

    1. The Company will only provide a Flight Attendant with reimbursement for a renewal once every ten (10) years unless the law requires renewals more or less frequently.

       

    2. Only the passport renewal or visa fee is eligible for reimbursement. A Flight Attendant will not be reimbursed for travel agent fees, postage, transportation or photographs. A Flight Attendant will also not be reimbursed for other passports expenses including those resulting for loss, theft, or name change.

     

  2. The Company shall provide Flight Attendants with required immunizations at no charge; provided, however, the Company may require the immunizations to be obtained from a health care provider designated by the Company.

C. DUTY TIME LIMITATIONS AND REST MINIMUMS

     

  1. A Flight Attendant flying an International pairing shall have the following limitations:

       

    1. Duty Limitations: 14 hours scheduled, 16 hours actual.

        * Flight Attendant may waive to 10 hours, at her/his sole option.

      * A transoceanic destination is one that crosses the Pacific or Atlantic Oceans.

     

  2. A Flight Attendant who requests and is granted a pick-up or trade of an International trip which has block time into domicile of eight (8) or more hours, and, as a result of the pick-up/trade, has less than thirteen (13) hours of scheduled domicile rest between trips shall be automatically deemed to have waived her/his minimum rest to ten (10) hours.

D. PAIRING AND LINE CONSTRUCTION

     

  1.  
    1. International pairings will be pure, except that there may be no more than one (1) domestic segment commencing and one (1) domestic segment ending such pairing. A deadhead segment commencing or ending the pairing will not be considered a domestic segment.

       

    2. If, as an exception, the Company constructs an International pairing containing more domestic segments than one (1) domestic segment commencing and one (1) domestic segment ending the pairing, the pairing may not exceed domestic duty time limitations. In all other respects, it will be considered an International pairing.

     

  2. As many pure International lines of flying shall be constructed as possible.

       

    1. After building as many pure International lines as possible, if International trips remain, additional International lines of flying may be constructed using no more than one (1) domestic filler trip placed on days which will not disrupt the cadence of the line. The remaining International pairings will be posted as COT.

E. ON-BOARD REST

A Flight Attendant shall be afforded a minimum of one (1) full hour of rest after completion of service in a blocked crew rest seat on board the aircraft when the scheduled flight time is eight (8) hours or more. Crew rest seats shall be in the non-smoking section of the aircraft, curtained from passenger view and placarded for flight attendant crew rest only. These seats cannot be utilized for revenue or non-revenue travel under any circumstances.

F. FLIGHT ATTENDANT CHECKED BAGGAGE

     

  1. Flight Attendants will be permitted to check bags on International flights. Priority handling will be given to crew bags.

     

  2. In the event of a delay in receiving a Flight Attendant’s baggage, the Flight Attendant will be reimbursed for reasonable actual expenses incurred due to such delay.

G. ILLNESS OR INJURY

In the event a Flight Attendant on an International pairing is injured or becomes ill while at an International station, the Company will pay for the required medical care. The Flight Attendant will return to the Company that portion of the medical costs subsequently reimbursed under the America West Insurance Plan.

H. RESERVES

Reserve Flight Attendants will be able to preference International assignments.
