SECTION 2 - DEFINITIONS

A. "AUTO" is authorized unpaid time off.

B. "Basic Crew Complement" means the FAA-required number of Flight Attendants for an aircraft.

C. "Bid Line" is a line of time that combines trip pairings with days off.

D. "Blank Relief Line" is a line that initially contains no scheduled days of Reserve availability or days off. Trips, days of Reserve availability and days off will be placed on such lines at Crew Resources’ discretion.

E. "Block-to-block" means the period of time beginning when an aircraft first moves from the blocks for the purpose of flight and ending when the aircraft comes to rest at the blocks.

F. "Company" means America West Airlines, Inc.

G. "Company Open Time" or "COT" means flight time not assigned to bid lines and flight time that becomes available during the bid period.

H. "Credit Time" means all hours a flight attendant performs her/his duties or is credited with a unit of time for pay purposes, or for flight time limitations as set

forth in this Agreement. Credit Time shall include, but not be limited to, scheduled or actual hours flown, deadheading, vacation, sick leave, OJI, jury duty, bereavement, training, trip/duty rig, reserve daily guarantees, Company business and Union flight pay loss.

I. "Day Off" means a period of time from the hours of 0001 to 2400 based upon local time of a Flight Attendant's domicile or satellite, that a Flight Attendant, while at the domicile, shall be free from all duty with the Company. A Flight Attendant, at her/his

is option, may elect to substitute a twenty-four (24) hour period for a calendar day, and/or may elect to substitute a twenty-four (24) hour period at an assigned layover station for a Day Off. For the purposes of Reserve assignments, if a Reserve Flight Attendant, scheduled for release by 0001, is actually released from duty by 0200, that day shall still be considered a Day Off, so long as the Reserve Flight Attendant receives a twenty-four (24) hour period free from all duty.

J. "Deadheading" means time spent by a Flight Attendant, at Company request, in air or surface travel between two points for the purpose of protecting a trip or returning to her/his domicile, or otherwise positioning a Flight Attendant for Company business.

K. "Domicile" means a geographical location designated by the Company where flight attendants are based.

L. "Duty Time" or "Duty Period" means all the time which passes from the time a flight attendant is required to report, or actually does report, whichever occurs later, for the first scheduled departure in the duty period until she/he is released per Section 5, Hours of Service. It shall also include time spent deadheading and training.

M. "Final Adjusted Lines" means the bid lines adjusted for schedule integration, training, vacation, selection of the High Time Option and other adjustments provided for in this Agreement. The Final Adjusted Line shall denote the name of the flight attendant, the scheduled days off, the scheduled days of flying (or, in the case of reserves, days of availability, Golden Days and Movable Days), training dates and times, and shall indicate the total number of hours to be flown for the month and time away from the domicile.

N. "Flight Attendant" is an employee whose name is on the America West System Seniority List and whose duties consist of performing or the assisting in performance of all passenger safety, Inflight and ground cabin service and preparation, and duties in the air or on the ground which have been historically performed by Flight Attendants since they ceased to be Fully Cross Utilized. A Flight Attendant must have completed training as prescribed by America West Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration. A Flight Attendant will not be required to lift, or assist in the lifting, of weight in which in the Flight Attendant's best judgment could result in an occupational injury.

A Flight Attendant may, from time to time, be requested to assist in publicity and promotional assignments. Such participation shall be on a voluntary basis.

O. "Golden Days" are scheduled days off in Reserve and Relief lines which may not be moved without mutual consent.

p. "Ground Holding" means anytime a Flight Attendant is required to be on the aircraft with passengers, while it is blocked in. This does not include the boarding and deplaning process.

Q. "High Time Option" means a Flight Attendant who commits to making a higher time adjustment to her/his monthly flying obligation through the use of Company Open Time.

"IOE" means Initial Operating Experience, including, but not limited to, new aircraft and changes to the F.A.R.s.

R. "Leg" or "Segment" means a flight flown from block out to block in.

S. "Like Aircraft" means aircraft that have the same basic crew complement.

T. "Longevity" means all time spent in active service with the Company as a Flight Attendant, including any time accrued in another Company position that has been applied toward Flight Attendant service in accordance with this Agreement.

U. ?Month? and ?Bid Period? means the period f????

From the first day, to and including, the last day of each calendar month of the year, except that, for scheduling and pay purposes, January, February and March will be considered thirty (30) day months through the addition of January 31 and March 1 to the month of February. During leap year February will be a thirty-one (31) day month.

V. "Movable Days" are scheduled days off in Reserve and Relief lines which may be moved by Crew Resources.

W. ?Relief Line? is a line which contains scheduled days of availability with days off. A Flight Attendant awarded a Relief Line shall have the opportunity to construct her/his monthly schedule using an automated process.

X. "Reroute" means a change in the routing of a scheduled trip after a Flight Attendant's scheduled report at a domicile.

Y. "Rescheduled" means a change in the routing of a scheduled trip prior to a Flight Attendant's scheduled report at the domicile.

Z. "Reserve Line" is a line which combines scheduled days of availability with days off.

AA. "Rest" means time when the Flight Attendant is free from all duty with the Company. Time spent on duty, including deadheading, on call, on Airport Ready Reserve, in meetings at the direction of the Company and training (including Flight Deck Observation Rides and IOE) is not rest.

BB. "Satellite" means a location, other than a main base, where pairings originate and terminate.

CC. "Seniority" means all time spent in service (both active and inactive) with the Company as a Flight Attendant, including any time accrued in another Company position that has been applied toward Flight Attendant service in accordance with this Agreement.

DD. "Trip" or "Pairing" means a series of segments that fall between check-in at the domicile and check-out at the domicile.

EE. "Union" means Association of Flight Attendants, AFL-CIO.

FF. "Volunteer Fly" means the process through which the Company allows Flight Attendants to cover excessive open time on a voluntary basis.
