Association of Flight Attendants AFL-CIO
Request for Supplementing Pay while on FMLA (STD or OJI)
Using Vacation Weeks
Per the AFA/AWA Agreement, Section 14-F-2, a flight attendant may elect to use his/her Sick Leave and/or Vacation Days while on a Family Medical Leave of Absence (FMLA). Flight attendants are entitled to 84 days of FMLA per year (based on a rolling calendar year), provided you have been employed for at least one year and have worked at least 625 block hours in the past calendar year. FMLA and STD/OJI run concurrently, so any time you are on a STD or OJI you are also using FMLA days. If you are on a STD or OJI and elect to use vacation days you must use an entire vacation group. (Vacation groups cannot be split.)
I am requesting to use the following vacation group(s) to supplement my income while on a FMLA: _________
